Intruder Detection or Alarm Systems are made up of Several components
- A Control Panel - which is the brain of the system,
- CodePad - which acts as the control that you enter your code in to operate the system,
- Detection Devices - that provide the detection of unauthorised entry,
- Noise makers and Flashing Lights - which not only make it unpleasent for someont to stay onsite but alert others that are outside that the alarm is going off,
- A 240 Volt Transformer - to power the system,
- A Backup Battery - to allow the system to operate for a period (load dependant) while the power may be off, and
- A Alarm Dialler (for monitoring to a call centre)
The Control Panel comes in different sizes which denotes the limit for the amount of detection devices that it can accomodate. These Detection devices can be designed to pick up an intruder through various means such as movement, shock or by entry through a door or window.
Alarm systems may be wired or wireless.
- Wired Alarms - need cables to connect the Detection Devices and the Control Panel while
- WireLess Alarms - use Radio signals to transmit the alarm between the Detection devices and the Control Panel
It is always recommended that the alarm be monitored by a Call Centre. This inexpensive service allows a guaranteed response in the event of an alarm being received by the monitoring station operator. See our Alarm Monitoring Plans on the main home page category for more info.
